Fatal road crash near Taumarunui

One man has died following a road crash in the Taumarunui area this morning.

The crash happened at approximately 8am on SH43 about 30km from Taumarunui.

A utility has left the road in wet conditions and rolled approximately 50 to 60 metres down a steep bank. The driver, a 46-year-old man from Ohura, died at the scene.

Police Serious Crash Unit attended and an investigation into the crash is continuing.

The man will not be named until next of kin have been advised.
