One dead and on in serious condition after run in with power pole

At about 10:30pm on the 25th of October 2007 Police attended a motor vehicle crash on State Highway One approximately 400 metres south of the Waitaki River Bridge.

Only one vehicle was involved in the crash which left the road and stuck a power pole.

At this stage one person has died and another person has life threatening injuries.

A third person from the vehicle has been hospitalised with non life threatening injuries.

No names are available for release at this stage.

A diversion is in place for this section of Highway 1 for at least two more hours.
