Robbery on Main Road, Tawa

At about 4:00pm on Tuesday 31st January 2012 a robbery occurred at Regent Jewellers situated at 190 Main Road, Tawa.

The offender entered the store and after having a brief conversation with the lone 85 year old owner, stole a box containing a quantity of jewellery and ran from the store. The store owner attempted to stop the offender from leaving and subsequently suffered a facial injury during the altercation. The offender was last seen running north on Main Road and turning onto Essex Street, Tawa.

As a result of the incident, the store keeper suffered a facial injury which required hospital treatment.

At around the same time as the robbery, a dark coloured older style hatch back vehicle containing two males was seen in the area.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen any suspicious persons or vehicles in the Main Road, Tawa area on the afternoon of Tuesday 31st January 2012.

Police also urge the occupants of the above mentioned vehicle to come forward to assist with the investigation.
