Gisborne - Homicide

Gisborne police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found in a house last night with stab wounds.

Police were called to a Childers Rd house at 10pm last night and found a 33-year-old male with stab wounds. He was taken to Gisborne Hospital by ambulance but had died on arrival.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Ford said the death was being treated as suspicious. There was a small group of people at the house last night and police were speaking to everyone who was there.

"We have a number of people to speak to and hopefully we will be able to ascertain what happened in the house last night. There will also be some forensic examinations taking place today," he said.

A post mortem will be done tomorrow. The dead man's name will not be released until family have been notified.
