Arrest in Gisborne homicide

A 30-year-old Gisborne woman has been charged with the murder of a man in the city last night.

Police were called to a house in Childers Rd, Elgin at 10pm last night and found a man with stab wounds. He was taken to Gisborne Hospital but was dead on arrival.

Police today arrested a 30-year-old woman in Opotiki and charged her with the man's murder. She will appear in the Gisborne District Court tomorrow on a charge of murder.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Ford said a scene examination was continuing today and inquiries into the death were continuing.

The dead man's name will not be released until family have been notified.
