Severe Weather Warning

From 10am Wednesday morning it has been forecasted for up to 250mm of rain to fall over 24 hours in the in Golden Bay Ranges with intensities of 25-35 mm/hr.

In the same period it has been forecast for the Richmond Ranges to receive a total of 150mm with intensities of 25-35 mm/hr.

While not high rainfall totals the potential for the high intensities could cause some issues, especially in already affected areas. The moist northerly rain is most likely to effect the following catchments: Takaka, Riwaka, Motueka, Wairoa, and the Maitai.

The Nelson Tasman Civil Defence Emergency Management team and Tasman District Council hydrologists will be monitoring the situation closely throughout the period.
