Escaped Prisoner Recaptured Taupo

On the evening of the 24 February Police recaptured a prisoner who escaped from Tongariro Rangipo Prison on Tuesday 21 February.

The man was found hiding in the ceiling of a house at a Taupo address and was apprehended without incident.

He will be appearing in the Taupo District Court today charged with a number of offences relating to his escape.

Taupo Police would like to thank the members of the Public that assisted during the time the prisoner was at large.
