Porirua Police are seeking a witness to an incident in Elsdon last week where a man was threatened and had what he believed was a firearm pointed at him.

Detective Shane Carter of the Porirua CIB says around 3:30pm last Thursday afternoon (23 February) the 36 year old victim was about to leave his house in Gloaming Hill when two men with their faces concealed allegedly arrived in a vehicle, preventing the victim from leaving.

"It's alleged that one of the males got out of the vehicle, threatening the victim and pointed what is believed to be a firearm at the victim. Luckily he managed to run away from the address, however a set of mag wheels were then stolen by the alleged offenders."

Detective Carter says Police want to speak to a motorist who stopped to help the victim and let him use their mobile phone to call Police.

"We really want to identify and speak to this member of the public who kindly offered assistance to the victim. We would like that person to come forward and contact us at the Porirua Police Station as soon as possible to help us with our enquiries."

A 26 year old male has been charged with aggravated burglary, being disguised for burglary and threatening to kill. He is currently before the courts.
