Arrest in relation to theft of jewellery at Regent Jewellers, Tawa last month

A 34 year old Stokes Valley man will appear in the Porirua District Court today charged in connection to the theft of jewellery at Regent Jewellers in Tawa last month.

Detective Gareth Barnes of the Porirua CIB says the 34 year old was arrested last night and charged with theft, in relation to the incident, which occurred on the afternoon of Tuesday 31 January, where a large quantity of jewellery was stolen. The 85 year old male store owner was also injured in the incident.

"Police have made a significant number of enquiries since the incident a month ago and further arrests are likely. We're really grateful to members of the public who assisted us but we'd still like to hear from anyone who may have useful information for us in relation to this matter."
