Lower Hutt Police are seeking Mathew George Kidman who is wanted on a Parole Recall Warrant after he breached his parole release conditions.

At 1.20pm Friday, 16 March 2012, Kidman drove through a routine Police checkpoint set up under the Wingate bridge, in Lower Hutt. Police followed him towards Stokes Valley and located his car in Manuka Street.

Unfortunately Kidman was not with the vehicle and it has been seized by Police. A search of the vehicle revealed a hammer and several knives within easy reach of the driver's seat.

Lower Hutt Police Emergency Response Manager Inspector Shane Cotter says locating these types of weapons in a vehicle being driven by Kidman causes the Police concern.

"We want to locate Mr Kidman as soon as possible, without incident or injury to anyone. He was in prison for drugs and firearms offences and it appears he is arming himself with weapons again. I urge anyone who knows where Mathew Kidman is to contact the Police immediately"

Mathew Kidman is described as a 31 year old, male, Caucasian, 187cm tall of thin build. Police say if Kidman is sighted, he should not be approached but Police should be contacted immediately on 111.

Anyone with any information about Kidman can call Lower Hutt Police phone (04) 560 2600 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
