Northland children get their first taste of Fonterra Milk For Schools

Around 10,000 Northland children will receive a serving of milk at school today as Fonterra Milk for Schools kicks into gear.
Packs of milk will be handed out at more than 100 Northland schools giving the kids a good nutritional boost to their day, says Fonterra CEO Theo Spierings.
“Today is a big day for Fonterra in New Zealand. As leaders in dairy nutrition we want to make sure Kiwi kids are drinking milk everyday because it’s important for good nutrition.
“We will be working closely with all participating schools throughout the pilot to get all the practical details right, with the intention of rolling out the programme nationwide in 2013,” says Mr Spierings.
Fonterra farmers Simon and Kim Donelley and Roger and Cushla Milina are among the many parents sending their children to school to receive their first taste of school milk – a programme which will make a significant difference to the health of Kiwi kids, says Simon Donelley.
“As a Fonterra shareholder I’m proud to be part of Fonterra Milk for Schools and I’m looking forward to hearing how my kids like the programme.
“There’s nothing better than milk when it comes to truly nutritious foods and it’s great to know that Northland kids will have access to it every school day,” says Mr Donelley.
