Invercargill - Serious Assault

Invercargill Police are currently investigating an incident at a Conon Street address which is situated in the block between Grace Street and Dalrymple Street, where a 62 year old male occupant at the address was confronted by at least two male intruders at around lunchtime yesterday.

The victim was bound and gagged during the incident and was found at around 4pm today by a family member.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Southland Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police have yet to formally speak to the victim and hope to do so in the coming days.

The scene has been cordoned off overnight and will be the subject of a Police examination tomorrow.

Police would like to hear from any members of the public who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area around the time of the incident.
