The Barnes family of Mount Maunganui drove away from Farmers Auto Village in their new Hyundai Santa Fe yesterday (Thursday 29th March) having won the vehicle after competing on the 2012 Hyundai Tour.
When two or more family members entered any of the five Hyundai Tour events held around New Zealand this year, their names went into the draw to win a twelve month lease on a new Hyundai Santa Fe. The Barnes' name was pulled out of the mix at the final event of the Tour held at Port Waikato earlier this month.
"We are so stoked to win the Santa Fe, check it out" said Owen Barnes as he was handed the keys today. "I reckon it is going to see a bit of the coastline for sure" he added noting an extended Easter holiday period that is fast approaching.
Anna Barnes was equally impressed with the car pointing out that she had already been summonsed by her children to pick them up in the new car after school today and then head straight down to check the surf.
The Hyundai Tour which caters for surfers of all ages either on the longboard or stand sp paddleboard has always encouraged the whole family to get to the beach and enjoy the fun around the events.
"It is great to see the Barnes' family win the new Hyundai Santa Fe" said Hyundai New Zealand General Manager Andy Sinclair. "The Barnes family is an integral part of the surfing community at Mount Maunganui, both Anna and Owen being heavily involved in the local Boardriders Club as well as having two youngsters who are mad on surfing. We are sure the vehicle will get to see a lot of New Zealand waves over the next twelve months."
The 2012 Hyundai Tour crowned seven series champions at the start of March ranging from Under 18 Men to Over 50's as well as Women's and Stand Up Paddleboard Divisions.
