Destination Rotorua Marketing’s Business Development Manager – Asia, Shelly Huang, won the Community Business Award at the inaugural Deloitte 2011 Chinese Business Figures Awards in Auckland on Monday night.

Ms Huang undertakes a vital role for our organisation in marketing our district as a tourism, business and investment destination to Asian markets, with a particular emphasis on China.

The inaugural awards were created to recognise the achievements of leading New Zealand Chinese business figures, responsible for not only growing their own enterprises but also bridging better business and community relations between New Zealand and China across a wide spectrum of the New Zealand community.

DRM General Manager Oscar Nathan says Monday night’s awards were hosted by the ‘who’s who’ of the Auckland Chinese Business Community.

“What made the night even more memorable was the fact that our very own Shelley Huang won the inaugural Community Business Award not only for her recent efforts with us here at DRM, but also for her previous work with Auckland super city Mayor Len Brown, NZ Trade & Enterprise (Shanghai) and China Southern.

“No doubt this inaugural event will grow bigger in stature and status as the growing influence of Chinese New Zealanders and their contribution to their adopted home continues.”
