A fashion show with a twist is set to take centre stage on Friday 4 May at the Mangere Arts Centre.

True South, is the break out show of the Pacific Arts Summit and is generating a lot of buzz in the community for its response to what is a glaring gap in the current fashion market.

“We’ve encouraged designers to create fashion for women of ‘Poly-Fabulous’ proportions and the feedback we’ve had on the show has been fantastic,” says Auckland Council’s Manager for Arts and Culture Leisa Sitene.

“Mainstream magazines and fashion stores don’t usually cater for the women we are designing for, and we want to try and challenge attitudes because there is a definitely a market for these garments.”

True South features a line-up of big, bold local talent, including headliner Otara-based  choreographer, Tepaeru-Ariki Lulu French, Melissa Cole with her "I love Lissy" range and Miss Tasha Lee launching her new 'RastaLee' line.

Sultry and soulful performances by Rosita Vai and Bella Kalolo bring together of what promises to be a night to remember.

Tickets are selling fast so don’t miss out.
