A public event is being held to explain upcoming changes to stormwater management in the Bay of Plenty.

The event, targeted at industry professionals including designers of stormwater systems, consultants, contractors and land developers, will explain the Regional Council and Tauranga City Council Stormwater Guidelines as well as the Regional Council's new Hydrological and Hydraulic Guidelines, which are soon to be published.

The event will provide a general overview of stormwater management in the region and the context for the new guidelines. An overview of the guidelines' content and how they will be practically applied will be given. There will also be an opportunity for discussion and feedback.

The Stormwater Guidelines define our stormwater management approach at both a regional and local level and provide background information on stormwater management approaches, particularly Low Impact Design.

The Tauranga City Council Stormwater Guidelines are supplementary and complimentary to the Infrastructure Development Code.

The Bay of Plenty Regional Council Hydrological and Hydraulic Guidelines provide design guidelines for activities that require hydrological, hydraulic and/or general civil engineering calculations or assessments. They also provide general procedures and principles to be applied with reference to existing textbooks, manuals and design guides for detailed information.
