No names in the ring for Bluff Community Board by-election

Those wanting to stand for the Bluff Community Board by-election have till noon on Friday, May 11 to put their name forward.

Invercargill City Council Electoral Officer Graham Low said with less than a week to go, as yet no one had put their name forward to stand.

“This is a last-chance reminder to those who would like to take a leadership role in Bluff by standing for their community board,” Mr Low said.

The by-election was a result of the resignation of Bluff Community Board member Scott Allan.

Nomination forms, which must be accompanied by a deposit of $200, are available from:

  • Help Desk, Ground Floor, Civic Administration Building, 101 Esk Street, Invercargill
  • Bluff Service Centre, Gore Street, Bluff
  • Invercargill City Council website www.icc.govt.nz


Voting will be by post in June.  The electoral roll to be used for the election will close on May 11 at 5pm, and may be inspected at:

  • Help Desk, Ground Floor, Civic Administration Building, Esk Street, Invercargill
  • Bluff Service Centre, Gore Street, Bluff
  • Eve Poole Memorial Library, Dee Street, Invercargill
  • Enrolment for inclusion on the Electoral Roll is conducted through the Electoral Enrolment Centre of New Zealand Post.  Applications for enrolment should be made by completing the appropriate form at any New Zealand Post outlet, or phoning 0800 ENROL NOW (0800 367 656), or visiting the Electoral Enrolment Centre website at www.elections.org.nz
