Fire claims life of 8-year-old boy

At about 9.30pm on Sunday the 4 November New Zealand Fire Service were called to a house fire in Logie Place Christchurch.

It was report that persons were trapped; Fire Crews rescued one person from the house. One other occupant managed to escape.

Both persons were taken to Christchurch Hospital were one was pronounced dead.

Details of the person are being withheld until formal identification has been completed and next of kin advised

Police and New Zealand Fire Service Investigators will return to the scene in the morning to complete an Origin and Cause investigation.
