Fatal Road Collision

Police are investigating a fatal road collision which occurred today in the Horowhenua involving an articulated truck with semi trailer and a mobile home.

About 1.10pm on Monday 14 May 2012 Police were called to the intersection of State Highway One and Kimberley Road, Levin to reports of the collision which occurred in the south bound lane of State Highway One.

At this stage Police are still investigating the cause of the collision.

Three people were involved in the incident. The male occupant of the mobile home was pronounced deceased at the scene and the female passenger remains in a serious but stable condition in hospital. The driver of the truck was unhurt but shaken.

Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision and would urge anyone with information about this matter to contact Levin Police on 06 3660500.

Police are still trying to identify the occupants of the mobile home in order to notify next of kin and therefore at this stage no further comment will be made about their identity.
