Detective Inspector Paul Basham, officer in charge of the Wellington CIB, says a 21 year old man was arrested by Police earlier this afternoon.

It's alleged that at about 1:45pm yesterday afternoon, a 29 year old woman was approached by an unknown male near the intersection of Tavistock and Buckingham Roads. The victim was grabbed from behind and indecently assaulted.

In addition, he will also be charged with connection with an indecent assault on Rodrigo Road, Melrose on Tuesday (29 May).

The male will be held in Police custody overnight to appear in the Wellington District Court tomorrow.

Detective Inspector Basham wishes to thank members of the public for information as well as the tenacity and dedication of his investigative team in bringing an arrest.
