Deaf Aotearoa is providing a special service for the Deaf in the Hutt City by providing two officers to support customers calling at the council. Service Coordiantor Karen Pointon will attend the office from midday to 5pm on Tuesday and employment officer Tim Pate will be available from midday to 5pm on Thursdays.

Mayor of Hutt City Ray Wallace said the council had made available a space for the Deaf Aotearoa officers and encouraged residents to make use of the service. Hutt City Council recently won a national award for Community Service to the Deaf.
