At a time when many New Zealand businesses are struggling to keep their head above water, fighting the inexorable pull of the global recession whirlpool, Clearwater’s Organic Dairy have achieved an incredible 95% sales growth this last year,  in an already congested yet dynamic yoghurt category.

Sales and Marketing Manager Sam Lees talks about the impressive results attained in the last financial year.    “Well when I look at it’s a culmination of factors arising from consistent contributions from the whole Clearwater’s team.   Foremost is that we have great tasting products, and to create these we needed the right people in the right place, that starts at the top.     We have Owner’s who ‘walk the talk’ they really believe in sustainable farming and producing quality products and trust the team to deliver.  We employ expert yoghurt makers who have passionately crafted winning formulas. Taste is very important and we married that to consistency, honesty and customer care.  We cannot thank our distributors and suppliers enough, for their unwavering support from our independent national retailer’s to the mighty force of the Foodstuff group of stores.”

People are making decisions based on taste and affordability, but also things such as what is the content of the product, is it healthy, does it contain additives and preservatives, is it organic and sustainable, where is it produced?

Clearwater’s products are completely natural and their products are made here in Peel Forest, South Canterbury on the farm. A sustainable dairy company that produces products from organic milk which comes straight from the milking shed to the factory. There are no additives and preservatives in the products and they contain no added sugar, “We are passionate about delivering a healthy range for our customers despite the market trends, and its serving us well!” Says Sam.

So what’s next for Clearwater’s?  Eve Johnson the business consultant to the company is excited “We are poised for to deliver up to 13 new products to market in the next 4 months coupled with a demand from export, so this means we are exceptionally busy.  The sales growth is rewarding but it been a tough year growing from a Small Micro business to an SME, but with great processes now in place the right team we look forward to more double digit success!”
