Man Dies In Car Crash On North Shore

Police have released the name of the man who died in a fatal car crash in the North Shore suburb of Milford earlier today.

The deceased man has been identified as:

ZHAKATA / Shungu
Age 26 years
Resident of North Shore:

The deceased was the sole occupant of a vehicle that struck a pole at about 2.50am this morning Monday 25 June 2012. His family who live locally have been informed.

The crash happened at the intersection of Kitchener and Shakespeare Roads in Milford. The vehicle has hit the pole after negotiating a long steep hill and sharp bend as it approached the intersection at bottom of East Coast Road at Milford.

The Waitematä Serious Crash Unit is investigating the crash.
