On 3rd July 2012 Queenstown Police arrested a 28 year old man from the United Kingdom who works as a Duty Manager at a bar in the Queenstown CBD. He is indictably charged with the following:

Importing LSD, a Class A controlled drug;
Importing Ecstasy, a Class B controlled drug x 3;
Attempting to Import Ecstasy, a Class B controlled drug x 1;
Importing a Class C controlled drug x 1;
Offering to Supply LSD, a Class A controlled drug x 1;
*Selling a Class C controlled drug.

*The selling charge is representative and covers the period 01 January to 03 July 2012.

These charges are as a result of a three month joint Queenstown Police and NZ Customs investigation.  The importations occurred from January to June 2012. During the course of the investigation NZ Customs intercepted Ecstasy pills destined for the Queenstown based Defendant.

The approximate street value of the illicit drugs intercepted and obtained by the Defendant will be in excess of $14,000.00. From our enquiries Police believe the drugs were destined and sold to the local market.

The 28 year man will next appear at the Queenstown District Court on Monday, 16 July 2012.

Since this matter is now before the Court no further comments can be made.
