A maintenance shutdown will leave households connected to the Kawakawa water treatment plant without water for eight hours next Thursday night and the early hours of Friday.

The Far North District Council is shutting the plant, which supplies Kawakawa and Moerewa households, from 9pm on Tuesday July 10 to 5am on Wednesday July 11 to replace a flow meter in a water main between the plant and the reticulation network.

The council apologises to Kawakawa and Moerewa residents for the inconvenience and advises them to store water for drinking and sanitary purposes before the shutdown.

Emergency services have been advised as a precautionary measure.
