Fatal Motor vehicle Crash

Police and other emergency services are at the scene of a fatal motor-vehicle crash west of Hastings. Two vehicles, a blue van with two occupants and a 4 x 4 with a single occupant, collided on SH 50 near the intersection with Kereru Road just after 1pm this afternoon.

The passenger of the blue van died at the scene and the driver has been taken through to Hastings Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the 4 x 4 has suffered minor injuries and is assisting local police with their investigation into the incident.

As a result SH 50 is currently closed in that area with traffic diversions in place at SH 50 and Tikikino to the south and SH 50 and Maraekakaho to the north of the crash scene.
