Man's death in Upper Hutt being treated as unexplained

UPPER HUTT

Hutt Valley Police are investigating the death of a man found underneath the Totara Park Bridge in Upper Hutt this afternoon.

Detective Sergeant Christiaan Barnard of the Hutt Valley CIB says a member of the public notified Police around 1:15pm today.

“We have identified the body of the deceased as that of a 47 year old man and are in the process of informing his next of kin.”

Detective Sergeant Barnard says the cause of the man's death has not been determined and is being treated as unexplained at this stage.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted tomorrow morning.
