Police investigate discovery of body in Hamilton industrial area

Hamilton Police are currently at the scene of an industrial area in Frankton following the discovery of a man's body on the footpath outside a yard this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton of the Hamilton CIB said Police were called to Green St, off Higgins Rd, shortly after 7.25am.

"The body of a man, who we understand lives on-site, was found lying on the footpath outside the gate to the site.

"At this stage his death is being treated as an unexplained death and will continue to be until such time as we have information to the contrary. Aside from carrying out a scene examination a priority for us will be formally identifying the man so as to be able to advise his next of kin."

Mr Thornton said the man's death has been reported to the Coroner.
