Police Investigate Stolen Car Incident In Henderson

AUCKLAND

Waitakere Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a stolen car
in which three children were safely located after an extensive search by police .

The vehicle was left outside an address in James Laurie Street in Henderson with the keys inside.

The three children aged two, four and six years respectively were asleep in the back seat at the time
the vehicle was stolen. Police were alerted to the incident at 2345 hours on Sunday 5 August 2012.

Police units from throughout Metropolitan Auckland were involved in the search for the stolen vehicle
and the missing children. The vehicle was found in Parrs Park, Glen Eden at 01.06am Monday 6 August 2012.

The three children were still asleep  and were unharmed. They have since been reunited with their parents.

The silver coloured Honda Rafaga Saloon car is now undergoing a forensic examination and fingerprinting.

Police will be speaking to the parents of the children. No arrests have been made.
