WELLINGTON

Wellington Police are monitoring the progress of the Hikoi as it nears Parliament today to ensure the safety of all road users.

Inspector Peter Cowan, Wellington Police, said the Hikoi has 20 - 25 vehicles and by 10.30am had passed through Paraparaumu.

He said police stopped the driver of one of the cars just north of Paraparaumu because he was driving on the wrong side of the road.

"Officers spoke to people involved at the scene, and the driver will be issued with a traffic summons," he says. "The vehicle then rejoined the Hikoi."
