The annual SPCA Cupcake Day is next Monday, and with thousands of people nationwide already registered to bake, sell and eat their treats, the day is sure to be a sweet success – and you can still be a part of it!

Visit www.spcacupcakeday.co.nz today and register to become an official SPCA ‘Cupcake Cook’ and download your very own SPCA cupcake kit - packed with handy baking tips, generous competitions and yummy recipe ideas (including one for your pup!) Registrations close August 26th at midnight so it’s definitely time to get those mixing bowls ready!

With over 60,000 animals entering the country’s 47 SPCA Centres each year, all requiring love and attention, an immense amount of time and resources are needed. SPCA Cupcake Day is a chance for New Zealanders to give something back to animals that bring us so much joy every day, with funds raised by Cupcake Cooks helping local SPCA centres across the country.

And if you need even more inspiration, there will be prizes for:

Most money raised (individual)

Most money raised (group)

Most cupcakes baked (individual)

Most cupcakes baked (group)

Most creative cupcake (judged by winner of TV3 Chelsea NZ’s Hottest Home Baker, Emily Taylor)

And every single Cupcake Cook who submits their funds on time to the SPCA goes in the draw to win a prize.

This 2012 Cupcake Day will see New Zealand in a buzz with cupcakes of all shapes and sizes being baked and sold on to friends, family and workmates. The SPCA recommends Cupcake Cooks use SPCA Blue Tick eggs in their cupcakes. These cage-free eggs come from hens that are farmed humanely – happy hens make happy eggs!

With SPCA Centres and their communities out there selling on the day around town, no hungry tummy will go unfed! Head to www.spcacupcakeday.co.nz/get-involved/whats-on to find out a list of stall locations and what’s on in your area.

So dust off the recipe book and register while you still can to join the fun for SPCA animals.
