QUEENSTOWN

Renowned Queenstown catering group Flying Trestles has proven once again they are the region’s most flexible – delivering five-star cuisine in a car dealership workshop.

The special cooking demonstration evening was held at Queenstown Motor Group’s dealership on Thursday night (August 23) with celebrity chef Ray McVinnie delighting guests with a demonstration and Flying Trestles providing the ‘behind the scenes’ catering from their Flying Kitchen truck parked in the workshop out the back .

Legendary food writer and judge on hit TV series MasterChef New Zealand, Mr McVinnie is also brand ambassador for Skoda.  He was at the Queenstown Motor Group dealership to demonstrate two of his fabulous dishes in front of around 100 of the companies’ clients.

Flying Trestles co-owner David Arnold said his team was “thrilled” to work with a chef of the calibre of Mr McVinnie.

“Ray demonstrated the dishes to guests in the main showroom, while we were out the back re-creating them for every one of the attendees to sample,” said Mr Arnold.  “The pressure was on but we were very happy with the end results, and by all accounts, it was a great success.”

Ray McVinnie said he too was impressed by how the evening went.

“The Flying Trestles team did a great job.  It's really nice to work with such a professional team,” he said.

The Flying Trestles team cooked up the two delicious dishes demonstrated by Mr McVinnie – Lamb Cutlets with Butter Bean Purée and a Spanish dessert, Torrades de Santa Teresa (fried bread with honey, lemon and cinnamon).

“The dishes each had quite a few elements to them, so the team did a great job given the fact we were working in a car workshop!” said Mr Arnold.
