Free wi-fi is now available at all eight council libraries.

Anyone with an internet-enabled device such as a tablet, laptop or mobile phone can link into the service, which is available during library hours.

The wireless service has been operating at War Memorial Library for the past few months while work on its full roll-out continued, and digital services co-ordinator Shane O’Connor says it has proved highly popular.

“We have already had to increase the number-of-users allowance twice, so it’s clearly very useful for people who want a basic web-surfing and email service.”

The wi-fi service supplements the high-speed Connect internet service available through library computers for $2 an hour.
