New Plymouth’s clock tower will be showing its support for two national charities.

From 1 September the clock tower will be lit by blue lights as part of Blue September, the fundraising month for Prostate Cancer New Zealand.

October is international breast cancer awareness month, so the clock tower will be illuminated with pink lights to support the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Manager Parks Operations Stuart Robertson says it’s one way the Council can help raise people’s awareness of these health issues.

“The clock tower is in a prominent position so a lot of people will see these colour themes when they’re out and about at night during September and October, and hopefully be reminded of the national information campaigns that are under way,” he says.
