Forget the red carpet. Sixty metres of sushi will be rolled out at the Kia Kaha! Japan Festival this Sunday on the Town Hall stage.
Rolling kicks off at 10.45am - all to celebrate 60 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and New Zealand.
This is Wellington's third Japan Festival, where members of the capital's Japanese community will join visiting experts and performers to showcase traditional and contemporary Japan.
You will be treated to high-energy entertainment like martial arts and taiko drumming - and are invited to savour more reflective activities like the tea ceremony, bonsai and ikebana. All events are free.
Non-stop stage entertainment includes performances from Wellington's sister city Sakai, and visiting Japanese reggae singer Kaja. There will also be the return of a crowd favourite - a fashion show celebrating decades of Japanese style.
Aside from sushi, foodies will have plenty of other fare to choose from including delicious mochi (rice cakes). Tea masters from two major estates - Omotesenke and Urasenke - will also share their elaborate secrets for crafting the perfect brew.
So head along to the Town Hall and surrounding areas any time between 10.30am and 8.00pm on Sunday and enjoy rice cakes, calligraphy demonstrations, delicious sushi, choir music and much more.
