Homeowners in New Zealand are turning online to post their building jobs and find qualified and available tradespeople according to Builderscrack.co.nz and tradies are responding rapidly.

While Statistics New Zealand reported an increase in the value of residential building work nationally of 7.1% rise for the June 2012 quarter, web based service Builderscrack.co.nz saw a 13% increase in jobs posted nationally for the same quarter.

“We’ve seen a huge surge of jobs posted online in the last 12 months,” says Builderscrack.co.nz director Keith Roberts.

“Some of that growth is a reflection of the upturn in residential building, but it’s also consumer confidence in being able to use a free service to find an available, reliable, qualified tradesperson online.  Our systems check trade accreditation registers such as Licensed Building Practitioners to verify credentials plus we have the ratings from previous customers.  You don’t have to take a giant leap of faith”.

There are more than 7000 tradespeople registered with Builderscrack.co.nz throughout New Zealand and all signs point to them being hungry for work.  The site reports that 80% of jobs posted by homeowners receive a response from two or more tradespeople within an hour.

Customers are encouraged to rate tradespeople who have completed jobs enabling future customers to evaluate them based on genuine feedback.

“We tend to have highly satisfied customers,” Roberts adds.

“Most customers provide feedback and ratings and 96% of them say they have had a good experience  and report ‘good’ or ‘excellent’ workmanship”.
