Imagine a zombie apocalypse merging with the biggest congregation of sci-fi madness conceivable. That’s the scene for ASB Showgrounds next month with Australasia’s largest pop culture and gaming event, the Armageddon Expo, hitting town from Friday October 19th to Monday October 22nd.
A massive range of celebrity guests are sure to have fans lining up for exclusive photos and autographs, with truly iconic stars from cult TV series’ and movies such as True Blood and Tron in attendance. Shoulders will be brushed with the biggest of the best, the legendary Terry Molloy from the Classic Doctor Who series will be there, along with New Zealand’s favourite movie star Temuera Morrison of Green Lantern, Once Were Warriors and Star Wars Episode 2 fame.
And that’s just the beginning. From the ever-growing cult phenomenon Game of Thrones, we’re lucky enough to have nabbed Finn Jones and Miltos Yerelemou.
Armageddon will be the place to be for any Babylon 5 fan, with huge names including Mira Furlan (also of Lost fame), Patricia Tallman, Bruce Boxleitner (he was in Tron, too) and the show’s creator himself, J. Michael Straczynski heading to the ASB Showgrounds.
There’s also a plethora more of big on screen names arriving in Auckland for the Armageddon Expo including Jim Beaver (Supernatural and Deadwood), Aldis Hodge (Leverage, Supernatural), Aron Eisenberg (Star Trek Deep Space Nine), Sebastian Roché (Supernatural, Fringe, Vampire Diaries), Sandahl Bergman (Conan the Barbarian), Mark Pellegrino (Supernatural, Lost, Being Human, Dexter), Cindy Morgan (Tron, Caddy Shack), Christopher Judge (Stargate SG1) and Christopher Heyerdahl (Twilight, True Blood, Supernatural, Stargate Atlantis)!
Once again the hugely popular manga, anime and cartoon genre are not forgotten, with celebrity guests from some of the biggest animation names at the event.
Mela Lee of Vampire Night fame will be wowing amine fans and old school Nintendo fans will be as hyped as we are about the voice of Mario and Luigi himself, Charles Martinet.
We’ve got the guys that make the magic happen covered too, with Anime director Kristi Reed making an appearance.
Regardless of animation preferences, Armageddon will not disappoint this year with celebrity voice over guests Johnny Yong Bosch (Trigun, Bleach), Martin Billany (Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series), Susan Eisenberg (Wonder Woman), and Yaya Han, the international Cosplay superstar, will be there too!
The comic, sci-fi, fantasy and card collectors and enthusiasts will be clambering to get tickets to this year’s extravaganza, with huge names in attendance including The Green Arrow mastermind Harvey Tolibao, comic legend Bob Layton (Marvel Comics, Iron Man, Hercules, X-Factor) and Ian Churchill, the artist responsible for the visual masterpieces Hulk, Superman and Titans in attendance. Beyond Reality Media and Guild Jewellery Design will be making an appearance too.
Armageddon 2012 is undoubtedly the only place to be this labour weekend for those serious about gaming. Alienware, the Activision Blizzard Stand, Halo 4, the PlayStation Mega Stand, Adversary Gaming, Need for Speed Most Wanted, Medal of Honor Warfighter and FIFA 13 will ensure that anyone going will need to book a week off just to recover from this intense, action packed weekend!
As well as big names, huge exhibitors and the biggest display of costumed cult-fans to gather in one place, events will keep the adrenalin flowing throughout the entire weekend.
Whatever the niche, Armageddon 2012 has it covered.
Armageddon Expo has continued to grow at a phenomenal rate since it began in 1996, with a massive 44,000 attendees last year. With the increasing success, and shows nationwide, the Armageddon expo truly proves there’s a bit of fan-boy in all of us!
