10:00 - There are some delays on the southern motorway, southbound at Otara, as Police clear the scene of a crash following a pursuit.

Contractors are clearing an oil spill and the motorway has been reduced to two lanes - this should take another 20 minutes (to 1000).

The pursuit was initiated when the offending vehicle was seen by a passing police patrol leaving a central city address being chased by a man on foot.

The vehicle failed to stop when requested by the patrol.

The vehicle was spiked when it exited the motorway at Market Road before re-entering the motorway at Ellerslie with one flat tyre.

It lost control and clipped the median barrier near Otara. No one was injured in the 13 minute pursuit and no other vehicles were involved in the crash which ended it.

The two male occupants of the vehicle are assisting police with enquiries into a reported burglary and will be facing other charges in relation to the pursuit.
