A guide to find the purr-fect place for pets

Purina knows how much you love your furry, four-legged friends – so much that you want to take them with you everywhere you go! But every dog owner knows what a struggle it is to find pet friendly destinations – whether you’re looking for a café for a post-walk coffee on Sunday morning, a holiday that includes your fur-child, or simply a spot for a decent run around, without having to use a leash.

You won’t have to worry about taking your pup everywhere with you anymore! Purina has just launched an iPhone app that will direct you to the nearest pet-friendly places with a quick click and flick of your finger. It might be a hotel, motel or bach for your next family holiday; a leash-free beach; or even a café that caters to your caffeine addiction, and provides a fresh bowl of water for your pup.

Purina Pet Places is all about getting you out and about with your pet, without the hassle of having to hunt down an area that welcomes other species.

Shivaun Statham, of Purina New Zealand, says that Kiwis are real animal-lovers and that Purina aimed to develop a tool that would enable them to enjoy quality time with their pets, even away from home.

“A lot of Kiwis leave their pets at home when they’re going out for the day, simply because it’s too difficult to know which places you can take them. Most cafés don’t display ‘Dogs Welcome Here’ signs!” laughs Shivaun.

“Similarly, families often leave their pets at kennels or catteries when they’re away on holiday, because it’s hard to find pet-friendly accommodation. We think it’s a shame that pets tend to miss out on fun family holidays and outings; which is why we created something that will help them to always be included!”

In fact, Book-A-Bach feeds directly into the Purina Pet Places iPhone app, so that you can find a pet-friendly holiday home and instantly book it in – all in one hand-held device. It’s too easy!

Feedback on the app so far has been wagging tails all around – it’s no secret that dogs want to be with you all the time, wherever you are, whatever you’re doing.
