Serious Assault

At approximately 2:10am on Saturday 22nd September 2012 an 18 year old male was involved in a fight with two other men in the Whangarei CBD.

The 18 year old victim had his throat slashed with a knife and he is currently in Whangarei Hospital after undergoing emergency surgery.

His condition is not life threatening and he is expected to make a full recovery.

A 17 year old male has been arrested and he is to appear in the Whangarei District Court on Monday 24th September 2012.

Police are appealing for any eye witnesses to come forward and contact the Whangarei Police Station on 430-4500.
