LOWER HUTT

A flexible net designed to prevent the contents of recycling bins blowing away in the wind is proving popular with Hutt City residents, especially those living in high wind areas.

Environmental sustainability advisor Sandy Beath-Croft says the EnviroFlexiNets help keep streets tidy and reduce debris from blocking drains and causing flooding.

Recycling collectors like them because they can carry two full bins at a time without spillages. They also don’t have to waste time picking up or chasing dropped litter.

The flexible nets are made of recyclable material and fit 45-litre and 55-litre bins. They cost $10 and $12 respectively and are available from the council’s Laings Road offices.

They can also be bought from the New World supermarket in Bloomfield Terrace, Lower Hutt.
