Police attending scene of attempted armed robbery in Otaki

Police are attending the scene of an attempted armed robbery this morning in Otaki.
The offender, a man age unknown, wearing a black balaclava and yellow high visiblity jacket, of solid build, entered a bank in Main Street, Otaki, at about 9.30am.
He presented what staff believed to be a firearm. He left the bank without taking any money.
No one was hurt but bank staff are shaken by the incident. The bank is currently closed.
Armed police are in attendance and the public are asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour on 04 3812000 or if anyone sees the offender please call 111.
