WELLINGTON CITY

As of yesterday, Hutt City Council is now providing our services to dog owners. Their animal services staff will investigate complaints and monitor dog behaviour in Wellington and they'll also manage the shelters at Moa Point and Seaview.

Under the new arrangement, when a registered dog is found roaming, the dog will be taken to a vet practice at Miramar or Khandallah, whichever is closer to the owner. The owner will be contacted to let them know where they can collect their dog.

The new arrangement will make it easier for dog owners to collect their dogs, as vet practices will often be closer to the dog owner and are open longer hours.

Wellington City Council will continue to be the first point of contact for all dog enquiries, including missing dogs - phone (04) 499 4444.
