Police confirm human remains in burnt vehicle

Police have today confirmed that a badly burned vehicle located near Kaikoura on Monday contained the remains of a person's body. The body has now been removed from the vehicle.

Tasman Police Crime Manager Detective Inspector Geoff Jago said the investigation was now centred on establishing the cause of the fire and formally identifying the body found with the vehicle and notifying that person's next of kin.
