Death on Milford Road Slip Clearing

At about 12.50 pm today a worker for a contract company on the Milford Road was killed whilst working  on slip clearing. Two other workers also received minor injuries.

The accident is understood to have involved equipment being used on site at the time, however the exact details of the incident have not yet been established.

Medical assistance was dispatched to the scene immediately from Te Anau, however despite the best efforts of all those on site the worker was unable to be saved.

OSH are currently enroute to the site to investigate the incident  along with a safety representative of the contract company. Police will also be investigating on behalf of the coroner.

Details of the deceased person have not yet been released as police are still in the process of contacting next of kin.
