Police appeal to public for sightings of distinctive purple Commodore sedan

At 2:30 pm on Saturday 20 October a 45 year old woman was found in the back seat of a purple Holden Commodore near a place known as Meeting of the Waters, south of New Plymouth.

It appears that the 45 year old New Plymouth woman Anne Elizabeth McCullough, was out running at a rural location near Frankley road new Plymouth when she was hit by the vehicle.

A 27 year old New Plymouth man has been charged with manslaughter following the incident.

Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Coward says “We are appealing to the public for sightings of a distinctive purple 1987 Holden Commodore sedan with mag wheels leading up to 2:30 pm on Saturday. More specifically we are looking for sightings in the location of the top end of Frankley road, Carrington Road, Baker road, Mangorei, Junction Road, and the Meeting of the Waters.”

Forensic scientists are conducting a scene examination at the Meeting of the Waters. The serious crash unit is examining the crash scene in Upper Frankley road, New Plymouth.

Police will not be making any further media comment on this investigation today.
