If you are a serious, long-distance runner and have always wanted to visit Japan then we would like to hear from you.

The Wellington Sakai Association and Wellington City Council are looking for two marathon runners to represent the Capital in the 2013 Senshu International City Marathon in Osaka, Japan next February.

The successful applicants will travel free to Japan, staying three nights in a hotel and three nights in a Japanese homestay, and run the marathon on Sunday 17 February 2013.

Aiko Collins, the Council's International Relations Project officer says, "We are grateful to Sakai for inviting us to participate over the last 18 years. This is a fantastic opportunity for two Wellingtonians to become ambassadors for the city by running in the marathon."

The deadline for entry in the competition is Tuesday 6 November.

Listen to Newstalk ZB's 'All Sports Breakfast', 7-9am, Saturday 17 November, when the Mayor of Wellington will announce the winners.

Application forms can be downloaded from Wellington.govt.nz or you can pick one up from Wellington City Council's service centre, libraries, swimming pools and recreation centres, Sport Wellington and the Japanese Information and Cultural Centre.
