There is a three way tie at the top of the table after three rounds of the Scarbro Caro Bowl Men’s interclub tennis competition in Auckland.  Blockhouse Bay, Royal Oak and Cockle Bay share the lead near the midway point of pool play after matches were completed on Friday evening.  Parnell are only two points adrift of the leading trio.  The Kohimarama Men’s team recorded their first win of the season with a 4-2 triumph over Pompallier where they proved to be too strong at the top of the playing order with Jaden Grinter and Nick Hatchett picking up singles and doubles points..  Blockhouse Bay split the doubles honours against the previously unbeaten Royal Oak side but were dominant in the singles where Victor Romero and Adam Thompson both won in straight sets.  Cockle Bay kept its unbeaten record alive with a sets count back win over the “old firm” Parnell.  Cockle Bay picked up all three points in the lower playing order while Parnell won the top matches but fell short on the number of overall sets won.
In the Women’s Scarbro Bowl competition, defending champions Kohimarama swept aside the hapless Campbell Park team without losing a match although four of the games played were decided in the third set.  Newcomers Sunnyhills stayed on track to record its third straight win of the season by comfortably beating Glendowie 5-1.  Promising junior Paige Hourigan won again when her opponent retired midway through the opening set.  After losing the first match of the season three weeks ago, Parnell has bounced back impressively to register a second consecutive 6-0 score line to move into third place on the points table.
