There is just one week left for people to have their say on the design of New Plymouth’s central area.

The public survey on what people like and dislike about the central city, and the design elements they would like to see, closes next Friday (9 November).

Manager Environmental Strategy and Policy Colin Comber says some themes are becoming clear in the feedback to date.

“We’re seeing that Puke Ariki and Puke Ariki Landing are popular, and that some buildings are unpopular because of location, height, materials or uninspiring design,” he says.

“We’re also getting a lot of comments about building heights, trees and parking.

“We really want to hear from as many people as possible because the feedback we receive will help us develop an urban design framework which will guide our development plans in this area. The more responses we receive, the better understanding we will have of what people like about the central area and what further opportunities there might be to enhance it.”

The survey is online at newplymouthnz.com/CentralAreaSurvey, and hard copies of the survey have been sent to 1,300 addresses in the central area.
