Second Pedestrian Struck by Car in as many days

Police closed a short stretch of Mt Eden Road between View and Bellevue Roads following the discovery of a critically injured man who appears to be the victim of a hit-and-run last night. 

The man is in critical care at Auckland Hospital with pelvic, back, head and facial injuries.

Diversions are in place around the scene using View and Bellevue Roads and although no estimate can yet be given for reopening the road, it is anticipated that it will be cleared before the morning build.

Initial reports are confused and some witnesses indicate that there was some sort of altercation between the injured man and an associate and the occupants of at least one vehicle prior to the incident.

Police will continue to speak with witnesses through the night and a full release will be made available through the Auckland City Media
